Our Story

Hi! I’m Dawn Cooper. I founded Boneshaker Adventures in 2015 with the intention of providing transformative mountain bike programs and growth-focused instruction.

It all started as ambitious idea to combine my passion for education, mountain biking, and nature in order to serve the community. Born and raised in Grand Junction, my challenging childhood and career in education motivated me to create a space for children to have the mentors I needed when I was younger. In the early years, I loaded up students in my old Land Cruiser to access and learn on the best trail systems throughout western Colorado. I focused on instruction that empowered riders on and off the bike.

Over the years, Boneshaker Adventures has grown to offer dynamic programs where mountain biking has become a powerful catalyst for change. We serve hundreds of children through growth-focused after-school instruction, summer camps all over Colorado and Utah, and a high-school mentorship program that equips adolescents with tools to be effective and sensitive leaders. For adults, we offer customizable private and small group lessons, guided rides with local experts, skills clinics for all ability levels, as well as community-building mountain bike retreats. We are constantly seeking to better serve the community through partnerships with other local organizations, offering financial assistance to participants, and building up our bike library, which allows students of all ages to “check out” mountain bikes for our programs.

We are grateful to build and serve the mountain bike community. See you on the trail!
