Everything we do is aligned with our three pillars: confidence, connection, community. This program helps youth to develop confidence by acquiring tools to overcome obstacles on and off the bike, while surrounded by a supportive community of peers and mentors. Spending time in nature allows children to create meaningful connections with one another and their surroundings.
General Information
The spring program will run during the weeks of September 13 - October 25.
Sessions will be held one night per week at various trail systems throughout the valley.
Rides will be led by Boneshaker coaches with focus on a specific bike and life skill each week.
Riders of all ability levels, who have a desire to build skills, confidence, community, and connection to nature are welcome!
Intermediate riders should be proficient in using both front and rear brake, shifting efficiently, and descending out of the saddle with parallel pedals.
Advanced riders should be comfortable using front and rear brakes, descending out of saddle with level pedals, be able to comfortably/confidently navigate intermediate single track with some fitness.
*A minimum of 4 riders required to fulfill groups. Group size is limited to 8 riders.
Each child is responsible for their own equipment, including a correctly sized mountain bike in good working order and properly fitting helmet. See our equipment list for more information.
What to Bring
A properly functioning mountain bike. This is critical! Stop into a bike shop before your lesson to make sure that everything is properly adjusted and working.
Shoes and pedals for mountain biking. We believe that you should learn on whatever you are most comfortable riding. If clipless is what you like, then bring clipless pedals and shoes. Same goes for flats pedals and shoes. If you have cages on your pedals, please remove them before your lesson. Boneshaker feels that it is best to learn on flat pedals as it creates a safer environment to learn and practice skills.
Personal Equipment: Helmet, cycling gloves, padded shorts, hydration, spare tubes, sunscreen, tools, mosquito repellent. Please check the weather before your lesson and pack appropriate layers.
Snacks.
Excitement to learn!
